Summer on Corfu

You can expect increased rainfall in the tenth month of the year. The rain will fall from mid-October to the end of March. During that period island is not that attractive as during the touristic season.

In general, tourism is the main source of income for residents, which is thriving in the summer season. Therefore, visitors to the island in the off season must be aware that fewer services will be available. Most of restaurants, bars and tourist places will be closed, and thus the experience associated with the island will not be as positive as during the tourist season.

Let’s take a look at each month, of the tourist season, to help you choose the best month to visit Corfu!

May

Is the best month for families with small children or to seniors, this is due to the fact that there is no heat, so the weather will certainly not be tiring. Additionally, in that month there are far less tourists. Also, it is the very peak of spring, so Corfu is drowning in colours!

The downside is that it can still be quite chilly. The average temperature is just above 20 degrees. Especially in early May, it can be too chilly for bathing and sunbathing. If you are going to Corfu on May and want to sunbathe – choose a place located on the east side of Corfu, because there the water is definitely warmer.

Also, remember to bring a sweater and a summer jacket with you. Evenings can be cooler. Although it is not a rainy season, there are rains. Something for rain, so it will be useful too!

June

The first half of June often does not resemble a typical Greek summer. Just in case you need to have a sweater with you, because in the first half of June it can be a bit cooler. With the second half of June it gets definitely warmer. June will be an ideal month for people who like when it is warm, but they cannot stand the heat. You can set the temperature at around 25/30 degrees and of course it is already so warm that you can sunbathe and bath!

July

Perfect month for sunbathing and swimming. Therefore, July will be ideal for people who are primarily focused on contact with the sea. Visiting Corfu in July can be a bit tiring. By far it is the hottest month on Corfu. Daytime temperatures often reach over 30 degrees! Who likes Greek heat – we invite you in July.

August

The first part of August is definitely hot (about 30 degrees). The situation is very similar to July. In the second half of August, it gets a bit colder, especially at night.

September

In September it’s getting colder. The average temperature in the day is around 25/28 degrees. Still, especially in the first half of September, it is the perfect time for swimming and sunbathing. However, after the second half of September, the weather in Corfu becomes uncertain, the rainy season begins then the real Russian roulette begins.

October

It can be beautiful, but remember that even in Greece it is already autumn! You need to have clothes with you and for summer and autumn, especially for rain! The weather in Corfu is very changeable then, you have to be prepared for everything.
