Museums on Corfu. PART 1.
Corfu has countless stretches of green olive groves, fantastic views, turquoise water and beautiful beaches. However, that’s not everything! A huge advantage of the island, especially Corfu Town, is that it is a mosaic of various influences. Mosaic, whose amazing colours have not faded until today.
Corfu Town has about 40,000 inhabitants, not so many, but it abounds in the number of museums. In this article we will bring you closer to what you can visit.
Corfu Museum of Asian Art
It is located in the Palace of Saint Michael and Saint George, at the end of Liston street. It is one of the best museums all over Corfu. A fantastic collection of utilitarian objects, sculptures, paintings from various parts of Asia.
You can visit that place from Monday to Sunday (08.00 – 20.00).
The ticket price is €6 or €3 (During 1st of November to 31st of March the discounted entrance fee is valid for all visitors). Also, there is a list for people entitled to discounted entrance fee during the entire year as well as people entitled to free entry.
Antivouniotissa Byzantine Museum
Place that certainly is for people who are interested in Greek culture and religion. You will be able to find there collections of beautiful, old Orthodox icons and objects related to Greek Orthodoxy.
You can visit that place from Tuesday to Sunday (08:00 – 15:00).
Admission fee stand at €4 or €2 for E.U. senior citizens (over 65 years old) and students from countries outside the E.U.
Old Fortress
A place for people interested in battles. You can find out there how it happened that Corfu was the only area, of all Greece, that did not surrender to the Turks. The museum has items and documents related to the Turkish invasions on Corfu. In addition, you can take a stroll around the Old Fortress and go to the viewpoint.
You can visit that place daily from 08:00 to 20:00.
Ticket price is €6 or reduced €3. It depends on purpose of the trip, age etc.
Casa Parlante
It is located in one of the streets crossing the perpendicular streets of Liston, in one of the Venetian tenement houses. It shows what the interior of the Corfu house looked like in the nineteenth-century.
This place will be perfect for people who are interested in history, children will also like it very much. The museum shows us the interiors of a nineteenth-century house.

Entrance Fee for adults is €7, students (5-18 years old) €5, group €5, students group €3, private tour €10 and children until five years old: free. A tour in the museum is included in the above prices.
